Shahbazov: Investment decisions to increase gas exports to Europe should be accelerated

In order to double gas supplies from Azerbaijan to Europe, it is necessary to accelerate decisions on investments in infrastructure and upstream, Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov said at the 9th Southern Gas Corridor Advisory Council Ministerial Meeting and the 1st Green Energy Advisory Council Ministerial meeting held in Baku, according to Report.

According to him, the year 2023 is crucial in the activities related to both the Southern Gas Corridor and the supply of green energy from the Caspian Sea to Europe.

"In 2022, the volume of gas supplies to Europe via the Southern Gas Corridor was brought to 11.4 billion cubic meters. In order to double the volume of gas supplies by 2027 and bring it to 20 billion cubic meters, we need to accelerate decision-making on investments in infrastructure and upstream, without wasting time, consolidate all the positions of shareholders and begin expanding the corridor through comprehensive diversification," the minister said.
