Shahbazov: Amid energy crisis, TANAP and TAP became symbols of reliable supplies

Amid the energy crisis, the Trans-Anatolian Natural Gas Pipeline (TANAP) and the Trans-Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) have become symbols of security of supplies, Azerbaijani Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov said at the 2nd Azerbaijan-Turkiye Energy Forum in Istanbul, Report’s Turkish bureau informs.

“Azerbaijan and Turkiye have become countries of strategic interest in sustainable energy security. The growing geostrategic role of Azerbaijan and Turkiye in the realities of a complex geopolitical and energy crisis is the embodiment of the policy pursued by the heads of state - Mr. Ilham Aliyev and Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the united power of Azerbaijan and Turkiye in their face,” Shahbazov emphasized.

It was also noted at the meeting that of the 6.1 billion cubic meters of gas supplied to the country 18 billion cubic meters of natural gas were supplied to Turkiye via TANAP from July 2018 to October this year, and 4.2 billion for the nine months of 2022.

By 2023, gas exports from Azerbaijan to Turkiye will reach 9.3 billion cubic meters.

The minister also noted that electricity from Azerbaijan can be exported both to Turkiye and to Europe through the Zangazur corridor.

SOCAR President Rovshan Najaf, Deputy Chairman of Azerenerji OJSC Vugar Shahmuradov, Chairman of the Board of KOBIA Orkhan Mammadov, Director of AZPROMO Department Tural Hajili, Director General of BOTAS Burhan Ozcan, Director General of TPAO Melih Han Bilgin and others also attended the forum.

The protocol of the II Azerbaijan-Turkiye Energy Forum is expected to the signed by the results of the event.
