The Kazakh state company Kazmunaigas (KMG) is considering a trial shipment of oil to Germany in January 2023, the company's Chairman of the Board Magzum Mirzagaliyev said after negotiations with State Secretary at the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action of Germany Michael Kelner, Report informs.

According to the instruction of the President of Kazakhstan, KazMunayGas is considering the option of a trial shipment of oil to Germany as early as January 2023, Mirzagaliyev said.

He also noted that it is necessary to resolve contractual and technical issues.

The parties held a meeting on December 20 via video link. Mirzagaliyev also met in Astana with the Bundestag deputy from the Left Party of Germany, Christian Görke. They discussed, in particular, the export of Kazakh oil to an oil refinery in Schwedt, Germany. The Bundestag member also "expressed interest in stable supplies" via the Druzhba oil pipeline.

Yesterday, Nikolay Tokarev, President of Russia's Transneft, said that the company had received applications from Poland and Germany to pump oil. Germany has said it does not intend to buy Russian oil in 2023. It turned out that Germany had filed an application for pumping through the Transneft system, but Kazakh oil was going to be imported through the Druzhba oil pipeline, not Russian. At the same time, there is no specific agreement between Germany and Kazakhstan yet. According to estimates, Kazakhstan is able to supply Germany with no more than 3-7 million tons instead of the 19-20 million tons that Russia supplied annually.
