Baku. 19 November. REPORT.AZ/ Turkey has purchased 387 billion cubic meters of gas from Russia since 1987, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said at a ceremony on completion of the sea section of the first line of Turkish Stream which is intended to transport gas to Turkey.

The President noted that Turkish Stream will be ready after tests in 2019: "The pipeline, which is designed to transport 31.5 billion cubic meters of gas, has advantages not only for Turkey, but also for the region and neighbors. Construction of a gas terminal in Kiyikkoy is underway. We carried out a technically difficult project at high safety standards. Russia is a reliable friend and significant gas supplier for us," Erdogan said.

Notable, 930 km of 1,100 km-Turkish Stream passes through the sea. The project envisages construction of two lines to Turkey’s European part through the Black Sea and then to the Greek border. Transportation capacity is 15.75 billion cubic meters. Gas transportation is planned to start in 2019.
