EC: EU ready to increase LNG imports from US

The European Union is ready to increase imports of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from the United States, representative of the European Commission (EC) Anna-Kaisa Itkonen told a briefing in Brussels, commenting on the demand of US President Donald Trump for the EU to purchase American LNG worth $350 billion in exchange for lower duties, Report informs.
According to Itkonen, amid the EU's desire to abandon Russian gas, the US plays an important role in diversifying supplies.
"Half of our LNG already comes from the US, but we are ready to continue negotiations to increase imports."
On April 2, Trump announced the introduction of duties on products from 185 countries. The basic duty was 10%, tariffs on the EU - 20%.
