Bulgarian ministers: IGB needs a lot of work to be operational

The Bulgarian government has mobilized efforts to commission the Interconnector Greece-Bulgaria (IGB), but much work is needed to be done to complete the project, Bulgarian Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Policies and Minister of Transport, Hristo Alexiev, and Minister of Regional Development and Public Works, Ivan Shishkov, said after inspecting the Bulgarian part of the pipeline, Report informs, citing BTA.

Alexiev said that the Bulgarian state fully provides support to the construction contractor for the completion of the project: "As you can see, this is just a project, and I am waiting for a schedule for the implementation of the work program."

He said that the works were completed quickly, and the SCADA control system was put into operation: "The company is in a difficult financial situation as it has a deficit of more than 1 billion levs. Therefore, the company does not have enough funds to pay for the deliveries. It's not the most important issue which company will be a supplier."

Shishkov believes that the biggest problem at the moment is the creation of a computer connection with Greece that will ensure the management process.
