Azerbaijani, Iranian energy officials to meet

A meeting of Azerbaijani and Iranian energy representatives on Khudafarin and Qiz Qalasi (Maiden Tower) hydropower plants is in the pipeline, a meeting of the Working Group on Energy Supply of the Interdepartmental Center under the Coordinating Headquarters for the centralized solution of issues in the liberated territories heard, Report informs.

The meeting discussed the work done on the construction of Khudafarin and Qiz Qalasi hydropower plants on the Araz River. They also exchanged views on holding the next meeting of the joint technical commission.

The total capacity of the two HPPs on the Araz River on the border with Iran is 280 MW. In particular, the capacity of Khudafarin HPP is 200 MW with the capacity of the Qiz Qalasi HPP totaling 80 MW. Both power plants are expected to produce 716 million kWh of electricity, and the sides will share the output.
