UK Ambassador to Azerbaijan Fergus Auld and Minister of Energy Parviz Shahbazov discussed the important role of Azerbaijan in ensuring Europe's energy security.

"We talked about the work to be done in order to successfully continue the 30-year-old UK-Azerbaijan energy and trade relations," Auld tweeted.

According to the Ministry of Energy, the minister congratulated the ambassador on his appointment and expressed his belief that he would contribute positively to the future development of cooperation between Azerbaijan and Great Britain during his tenure.

The meeting mentioned the activities of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on economic cooperation between the two countries in the expansion of mutual relations, including the development of links in the field of energy. The progress of the implementation of the protocol on the 5th meeting of the commission and issues related to the next meeting were discussed.

They talked about the current state of cooperation with the bp company, which has a special place as a strategic partner and leading investor in the oil and gas sector in Azerbaijan, in the direction of the development of the "green energy" field. Information was provided about the increase of natural gas export from Azerbaijan to Europe, renewable energy potential on land and sea in Azerbaijan, ideas were exchanged about potential cooperation opportunities in decarbonization, wind and solar energy, "green hydrogen" and "green electricity" export, energy efficiency, and other areas.
