7th meeting of SGC Advisory Council to take place this week

"Energy cooperation is an important part of our partnership. We are happy to complete our major project - the Southern Gas Corridor," Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said as he received Minister for European Neighborhood and the Americas at the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office Wendy Morton, Report informs.

"You know that BP is our strategic partner. From the very beginning, this company participated as an investor in major projects under implementation in Azerbaijan. After the extension of the ‘Contract of the Century,’ our cooperation will continue for many decades," said the head of state.

President Ilham Aliyev noted that the 7th Ministerial Meeting of the Southern Gas Corridor (SGC) Advisory Council will take place in two days.

He said that the meeting participants will consider the achieved results and future cooperation.

"Of course, the UK investments in Azerbaijan have helped us a lot to modernize the country. These investments were mainly made in the energy sector - almost $30 billion. This allowed us to use the revenues from oil and gas sales to diversify the economy. Therefore, I am sure that the main area of ​​our attention in the coming years will be the development of Azerbaijan’s non-energy sector," he added.
