"It is necessary to review the national legislation of Azerbaijan in the field of state standards for educational programs in universities," Resident Coordinator of the project Yelizaveta Bidanova told Report within the framework of the information session of the EU twinning project to support and improve the level of higher education in Azerbaijan.

"The goal of our twinning project is to support and improve the level of higher education in Azerbaijan. We want to make sure that this system in Azerbaijan will reach the same level as the European system and will become part of it."

Bidanova also stress the need to review national legislation (in the field of higher education - ed.): "This is particularly related tor state standards for curricula. Fifteen priority undergraduate programs were selected, which should be revised with the expectation of a competency-based and student-centered approach."

According to her, an important issue for students is also the process of recognition of diplomas of foreign universities in Azerbaijan: “Our program also provides for reforms in the field of the system of nostrification and recognition of diplomas.

Notably, this twinning project is implemented within the framework of the agreement between Azerbaijan and the European Union on the implementation of twinning projects and is intended for 24 months (from April 2018 to April 2020) with a budget of 1.2 million euros.
