Baku. 4 January. REPORT.AZ/ The date of the summative assessments to be held during the academic year will be unveiled to schoolchildren in advance, Emin Amrullayev, head of Department on Education Development Program at the
According to Report, he noted that along with indicating the importance attached to schoolchildren as participants in education, thie step is also useful in terms of planning their activities: "Another change is related to the implementation of Major Summative Assessment on extra subjects at lyceums, gymnasia, in classes with a specific focus."
The Ministry official added that summative assessment will be carried on a 100-point scale and in the end the points will be turned into marks and recorded in the gradebook and the school diaries: "In other words, under the rules, all calculations will be built on points and only in the end these points will be transformed into marks."
Amrullayev said that the new rules will be applied from the second half of the academic year.
Notably, under the new rules, the number of summative assessments in secondary schools has been reduced. The Major Summative Assessment will be held at the end of the education level, namely on all subjects in the 4th, 9th and 11th forms and only on subjects of final exams in the 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th and 10th grades. The main goal in conducting major summative assessments at the conclusion of each education level is to measure the achievements of schoolchildren in all subjects, while the main goal of major summative assessments in intermediate forms is to ensure their complete readiness for final exams. Moreover, considering the age pecularities of those studying in primary school, the summative assessment for first graders has been fully abolished, and the second and third graders will have only minor summative assessment.
