"No devastating earthquake is expected in Azerbaijan in the nearest future," head of the Republican Center of Seismological Service at Azerbaijan's National Academy of Science Gurban Yetirmishli said commenting on the 6.8-magnitude earthquake that hit Turkey last night.
He said Azerbaijan records underground shocks every day: "Not a single day passes without underground shocks. But these shocks are weak. As the Turkish cities of Elazığ and Malatya are far from Azerbaijan, the earthquake that hit them will not affect Azerbaijan."
