Climate change has a substantial impact on the population of the Caspian seal, said Vasily Bogoslovsky, General Director of the Clean Seas International Environmental Fund.

"In 2018, we managed to add the Caspian seal to the Red Book in Russia. In Azerbaijan, it has long been listed in the Red Book," Bogoslovsky said.

Speaking in general about the problem of the decline of the water level in the Caspian Sea, he noted that in addition to common work, all academicians need to actively participate in the creation of the atlas of the Caspian Sea, and state structures need to provide maximum support, the ministries of foreign affairs should intensify the work of the secretariat in this particular part of the climate and biodiversity, and companies engaged in the exploitation of resources should monitor and explore the Caspian Sea.

According to Bogoslovsky, the conference taking place today in Baku will be of great benefit for solving the problem of lowering the level of the Caspian Sea and will also allow the exchange of expert opinions on this issue.

An international conference, "Caspian sea-level fluctuations in climate change, forecasts, and adaptation measures," is being held in Baku today, Report agency provides information support to the conference.
