Baku hosts 10th session of Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation between Azerbaijan and Turkiye

The tenth session of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation between Azerbaijan and Turkiye has been held in Baku.

Report informs, citing the Cabinet of Ministers that the session presided by Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Ali Asadov and Vice President of Turkiye Fuat Oktay was attended by heads of the respective state structures of both countries.

Prime Minister Asadov noted that relations between Azerbaijan and Turkiye have reached the highest level of strategic partnership and alliance.

Deep gratitude was expressed to the leadership of Turkiye and the entire fraternal Turkish people for the political and moral support provided to Azerbaijan during the 44-day Patriotic War.

It was noted that the signing of the Shusha Declaration further strengthened the Azerbaijani-Turkish relations, raised them to the level of an alliance, that in recent years, the Azerbaijani-Turkish relations, thanks to the efforts of Presidents Ilham Aliyev and Recep Tayyip Erdogan, have gone beyond the bilateral format and turned into a regional factor. The parties noted the successful cooperation between the two countries in various fields - economic, trade, investment, transport, energy, industry, agriculture, etc.

It was especially emphasized that Azerbaijan and Turkiye play an important role in ensuring the energy security of Europe through joint projects.

The sides noted the importance of the implementation of the Kars-Igdir-Aralyk-Diliuju-Sadarak-Nakhchivan-Julfa railway project from the point of view of ensuring direct railway communication between Azerbaijan and Turkiye through Nakhchivan.

The parties expressed confidence that as a result of the opening of the Zangazur corridor and the construction of a railway to Nakhchivan, the Azerbaijani-Turkish economic and trade ties will be expanded.

Turkish Vice President Oktay stressed with satisfaction that friendly, fraternal and allied relations between Azerbaijan and Turkiye are successfully developing in all areas. It was noted that regular meetings between the heads of state make a special contribution to the work to expand these ties.

Noting that the Azerbaijani-Turkish partnership has strengthened even more in recent years, Oktay said that large-scale joint projects of the two countries, in particular, initiatives in the field of transport and energy, are of great importance for the region.

In conclusion, Azerbaijani Prime Minister Ali Asadov and Turkish Vice President Fuat Oktay signed the protocol of the 10th session of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Turkiye, as well as a number of other documents.
