Armenians treated Azerbaijani captives, hostages inhumanely, report says

Referring to the documents published by the State Commission on Prisoners of War, Hostages and Missing Persons of the Republic of Azerbaijan, it should be noted that during the occupation of Azerbaijani territories by the armed forces of Armenia, Azerbaijani citizens captured and taken hostage were not only treated inhumanely, but even used for various purposes, reads the report of the Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of Azerbaijan in relation to Azerbaijanis missing during the First Karabakh War, Report informs.

According to Azerbaijani Ombudsman's report, having been placed at the disposal of the civilian population, Azerbaijani citizens captured and taken hostage were demonstrably humiliated and insulted in public squares, with the aim of inciting hatred in Armenian society:

They were used as slaves, especially in hazardous industries; were killed as victims on the graves of members of a terrorist gang and Armenian soldiers who died in the days of remembrance of the ‘Armenian genocide’ and in battles; were used in acts of vandalism, demolition and looting of historical monuments, cemeteries, residential and administrative buildings in the occupied settlements; were incited to commit physical and immoral acts against each other and etc, the report says.
