There is a serious need to increase access to digital technologies worldwide, Steliana Nedera, UNDP Regional Director, said at the High-Level Roundtable on Green Digital Action held within the framework of COP29, Report informs.
"Strengthening the digital environment and landscape is of crucial importance. The digital world is a key driving force in climate policy. The use of green early warning systems, carbon emission registration, access to carbon markets, and the management of these markets, as well as the level of sharing smart agriculture knowledge, is a serious concern. Currently, 3.2 billion people worldwide have access to these technologies. In this sense, the level of access to digital technologies must be significantly increased," she noted.
Expressing UNDP's support for the green digital declaration, Nedera emphasized the importance of accelerating the process of creating climate action technologies and green cities.
