COP29 was historic event for Azerbaijan with tens of thousands of official participants

COP29 has made history in Azerbaijan by being the first event in the country with tens of thousands of official participants, Jala Muradova, Senior Manager on Work with Volunteers at COP29 Azerbaijan Operating Company, told Report.

Muradova highlighted that their team was responsible for ensuring the efficient work of volunteers during the event: "We understood the importance of carefully selecting and training our volunteers. Before starting the selection process, we focused on training our staff to be fully prepared. After our employees were fully prepared, we started the selection process of volunteers."

She further mentioned that their team uniquely handles the volunteer selection process in Azerbaijan. The senior manager added that this process includes assessing volunteers' skills during interviews and assigning them to appropriate departments. During COP29, the effectiveness of this approach was clearly observed in the volunteers' performance.

"In addition, the volunteer training was designed to meet the requirements of a large-scale international event. Volunteers attended seminars and training sessions on leadership, communication skills, environmental and social sustainability, and accessibility, along with both general and role-specific training," Muradova added.
