Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry: Azerbaijan plays special role in terms of global transport logistics

Trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Russia grew by 17.5% last year, and this is not the limit, the honorary representative of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Azerbaijan, Maria Suvorovskaya, told Report.

She noted that the signing of a roadmap for economic cooperation at the beginning of the year should lead to an increase in trade turnover between the countries.

“All those actions that are outlined in the road map should in the future lead to an increase in trade turnover, to new record levels. It is clear that from exports we are moving towards joint industrial projects and investment interaction,” she said.

Suvorovskaya noted that about 80 constituent entities of the Russian Federation maintain business, cultural, tourist and educational ties with Azerbaijan.

Speaking about the new impetus for the development of Russian-Azerbaijani relations, the honorary representative of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry noted that Baku plays an important role in the North-South transport corridor project.

“Azerbaijan has a special role as a transit country from North to South and from West to East, and this unique location of Azerbaijan provides it with special significance in global logistics,” she concluded.
