Car sales in Europe shrink nearly 20%

623,000 new cars were sold in the European Union (EU) in August 2021, a drop of 19.1% from August 2020, Report informs via foreign media.

In particular, in August 2021, car sales fell by 28.9% in Spain, 27.3% in Italy, 23% in Germany, and 15% in France.

In August 2021, Stellantis (formerly Fiat and PSA), Volkswagen Group and Renault Group posted a decline of 29.7%, 15.9%, and 20.6% in car sales, respectively

From January through August 2021, Europeans bought 6.8 million new cars, an increase of 11.6% from a year ago.
