Azerbaijan to impose duty on onion, cabbage and potato export

Azerbaijan will impose a duty on the export of onion, cabbage and potato, Minister of Economy of Azerbaijan Shahin Mustafayev said to journalists.

“The retail market is constantly supervised, and the monitoring is held. The focus is on basic goods. For example, onion prices have been growing for about a month now,” the Minister said.

According to him, the increase in prices has also affected potatoes and cabbage. Mustafayev noted that the ministry is investigating the reasons for such developments. At the same time, he added that there is no artificial price increase on the market.

“The government will take appropriate measures in connection with the situation. Duties will be introduced on export of onion, cabbage and potato. I would like to note that a specific duty of $0.60 per kilo was imposed on the import of onions, which we want to eliminate. At the same time, we will continue to monitor the market. We hope that the undertaken measures will stabilize the prices," the Minister said.
