Azerbaijani MP's close relative detained by police

"None of us is in opposition to our state, and we are all soldiers of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief," MP Tahir Karimli said during the discussion of the documents included in the state budget envelope for the year at a joint meeting of the Parliamentary Committees for Law Policy and State Building, Defence, Security and Counter-Corruption, Human Rights, International Relations and Inter-Parliamentary Connexions, and the Disciplinary Commission.

Report informs that, according to him, after his speeches in the parliament, one of his relatives living in Shamakhi was detained and checked by the police: "There was no need for that."

Karimli also said that fishing in Azerbaijan is in a deplorable state: "Where is the caviar, where is the fishing? Why is this field not developing?"

He also suggested improving the legislation to develop the provision of military personnel:

"The servicemen of the victorious state must live worthy of this victory."
