The Shahdag ferry, owned by ASCO’s (Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping) Marine Transport Fleet, has been repaired and returned to operation, Report informs, citing the company.
The work carried out at the Zigh Ship Repair and Construction Plant was completed promptly and with high quality.
The ferry’s main and auxiliary engines, pumps, and coolers were repaired. Necessary work was also performed on the auxiliary steam boiler and auxiliary boiler. Welding, pipe installation, automation, and electrical equipment repairs were carried out on the vessel.
Additionally, communication and electro-radio navigation equipment were repaired. Faulty spare parts were replaced with new ones. Modern speed-measuring log navigation equipment of a new type was installed.
At the same time, the vessel’s superstructure was cleaned and repainted. The sailors’ living and service quarters were also renovated to meet modern standards.
After successfully passing sea trials, the Shahdag ferry was reintroduced into cargo transportation along the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route. Its first voyage was from the Alat Port to the Kuryk Port.
The vessel is 154.50 meters long, 18.3 meters wide, and has a maximum speed of 12.5 knots.
