No project in this region is possible without active contacts between Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said at the opening ceremony of the 4th Shusha Global Media Forum, entitled "The Mission of the Media in Promoting Peace: Restoring Truth and Rebuilding Trust," Report informs.
"I thank Kazakhstan President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev for his support in the reconstruction of Karabakh. The art center in Fuzuli bears the name of Kurbangazy, a great son of the Kazakh people. We inaugurated it together with Tokayev, and we are very grateful for the support of the brotherly Kazakh people. Of course, our personal relations are also a very important factor in this regard. We have a very broad agenda for both regional and bilateral cooperation. As two countries located on the shores of the Caspian Sea, we cooperate very actively. No project in this region is possible without active contacts between Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan. At the same time, we are carrying out work on expanding infrastructure. I know that work is also being done in Kazakhstan on expanding port infrastructure," Aliyev noted.
The head of state added that a joint cooperation format already exists between Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Türkiye: "Very important issues – tariffs, digitalization, simplification of procedures and customs administration – are being discussed. In 2024, we signed an agreement with the presidents of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan on the construction of an energy cable along the bottom of the Caspian Sea. Today its feasibility study is being carried out. At the same time, we are discussing the construction of a fiber-optic cable with Kazakhstan.
It will contribute to the development of both our and the broader geography's digitalization, artificial intelligence, and database sectors. A certain volume of Kazakhstan's oil is exported through Azerbaijan. That is, in this region, the two countries are in close contact and cooperating. We also rejoice in Kazakhstan's achievements under the leadership of its president. I recently visited the historic city of Turkestan and what I saw there left a deep impression on me – how the historical heritage is being preserved. I wish success to the brotherly Kazakh people!"
