The experience accumulated by the Azerbaijan Customs Service is of significant importance not only for the country but also for the international customs community, Ian Saunders, secretary general of the World Customs Organization (WCO), who visited Azerbaijan for the first time, said at a briefing at the State Customs Committee, Report informs.
According to him, the key to success in the customs sphere is the sharing of experience between countries and the strengthening of international cooperation: "We will only be able to achieve our goals by maximizing the potential of the global network and sharing the knowledge and experience we each have acquired."
Saunders emphasized that the activities of the Azerbaijan Customs Service are closely monitored and highly valued at the WCO headquarters in Brussels: "In Brussels, we are monitoring your work and commending it highly. We hope that you will continue your work with the same professionalism, and that the experience you have accumulated will contribute to the development of customs administrations in other countries around the world."
He also expressed hope that Azerbaijan's cooperation with trading partners and customs authorities of neighboring countries will further expand in the future.
