Azerbaijan and the Islamic Organization for Food Security (IOFS), a specialized body of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), have discussed prospects of future cooperation, Report informs, referring to Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Agriculture.
In this context, Azerbaijani Deputy Minister of Agriculture Ilhama Gadimova has met with the IOFS Director General Berik Aryn.
She noted that Azerbaijan is a rapidly developing economy in the region, and pointed out that the development of national agro-food systems with the diversification of the economy is one of the main goals.
As for the reforms in Azerbaijan’s agriculture sector, the deputy minister talked about the main directions of the agriculture development strategy and the implemented innovative projects.
Gadimova added that cooperation with international organizations is being continued to apply advanced practices in the agricultural sector in the country.
At the meeting, the participants underlined that Azerbaijan is interested in establishing effective cooperation in the agriculture sector with IOFS, and future cooperation prospects were discussed.
During the meeting, ideas were exchanged regarding the possibilities of future cooperation with IOFS in the direction of the development of the agricultural sector and rural areas in Azerbaijan’s liberated lands.
The deputy minister touched upon the importance of holding the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) in Azerbaijan and talked about the measures implemented to minimize the impact of climate change on the agricultural sector.
In particular, IOFS Director General gave information about the activity of his institution and the programs implemented.
Emphasizing that cooperation with Azerbaijan in the agriculture sector is significant, Aryn stated that he will spare no effort to further develop relations in this field. He announced that they are ready to support the events to be held in Azerbaijan within the framework of COP29.
