Northern Ireland national team is cautious about weather conditions during Azerbaijan game

Skipper Steven Davis: The opponent is better adapted to warm climate

Baku. 2 June. REPORT.AZ/ Northern Ireland national team is cautious about weather conditions during game with Azerbaijan national team in 2018 World Cup qualification group round.

Report informs, British squad decided to hold 4-day training camp in Turkey before the game to adapt to Baku climate. But they didn’t name the city where the camp will take place.

The head coach Michael O’Neil told that the Azerbaijan game will be played in most disadvantageous time for them. However, he told that they will play the game in accordance with schedule and everything will be in order: “I’m not concerned much about the conditions. The same is with players. Their fitness and ability to show what they are capable of on the field is really at a good level. The only positive factor for us is that at this time of the year we will hold only one official match."

Captain Steven Davis noted that warm weather is an influential factor: "Azerbaijani soccer players, unlike us, are more adapted to this weather." To adapt to such weather, it is very important to hold several days of training before coming to Baku. A chance to improve it. We are in a good position in the group and got a chance to improve it. The conditions in Baku will differ from Belfast, but we believe that we have the proper quality to return from the trip with a good result."

Notably, Azerbaijan vs. Northern Ireland game will start on June 10, 20:00 local time in the Tofig Bahramov Republican Stadium.
