State Tourism Agency official: Our goal - sustainable development of sector

The main goal of the State Tourism Agency is not to make the country dependent on one tourism product but to achieve sustainable development of the sector by diversifying into many tourism products, Head of the Agency's tourism policy and strategy department Mohammad Nuriyev said at the Azerbaijan Tourism Summit in Baku.

"The sustainability of the tourism sector is the bottom line for the government. This factor was taken into account in the Socio-Economic Development Strategy for 2022-2026. We need to achieve sustainable economic growth so that the sector is less vulnerable to external influences. In this regard, the approach of the Agency is to work on a comprehensive state program that includes all issues related to the development of the tourism sector and to use the opportunities of the state and private sectors in this direction. Another matter is focusing more on tourism products representing Azerbaijan in the tourism market," he said.
