Azerbaijan sees almost 4-fold surge in number of Israeli tourists

In January and February of 2025, 338,600 foreigners and stateless persons from 162 countries visited Azerbaijan, reflecting a slight 0.7% decrease compared to the same period last year, Report informs, citing the country’s State Statistical Committee.

The tourists came from:

  • 23.4% - Russia;
  • 18.6% - Türkiye;
  • 9.9% - India;
  • 9.3% - Iran;
  • 5% - Georgia;
  • 3.3% - Kazakhstan;
  • 3.2% - Pakistan;
  • 2.9% - the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia (each);
  • 1.8% - Kuwait;
  • 1.7% - Uzbekistan;
  • 1.6% - China;
  • 1.4% - Turkmenistan, Ukraine (each);
  • 1.2% - Israel;
  • 1.1% - Oman;
  • 11.3% - other countries.

Among all visitors, 72.2% were men, and 27.8% were women.

Notably, there was significant increase in arrivals compared to the previous year:

  • Israel: 3.9-fold increase
  • Tajikistan: 1.9-fold increase
  • China: 1.8-fold increase
  • Spain: 1.7-fold increase
  • Jordan: 44.6% rise
  • India: 44% rise
  • Kyrgyzstan: 25.7% rise
  • Kazakhstan: 21% rise
  • Pakistan: 19.6% rise
  • Egypt: 18.9% rise
  • The US: 17.4% rise
  • Netherlands: 16.5% rise

In contrast:

  • Arrivals from European Union decreased by 1.6% to 11,000;
  • Arrivals from Gulf countries dropped by 9.9% to 62,100;
  • Arrivals from CIS countries fell by 9.2% to 107,400;
  • Arrivals from other countries increased by 10.8% to 158,100.

In terms of transportation:

  • 71.2% of foreigners and stateless persons used air transport.
  • 27.2% used rail and road transport.
  • 1.6% used sea transport.
