Minister: Fourth social reform package has been implemented in Azerbaijan in the last 5 years

The successful social reform program of President Ilham Aliyev also includes the pension system, Minister of Labor and Social Protection of Population Sahil Babayev said at the opening ceremony of the twinning project of the European Union (EU) "Support to pension reforms in Azerbaijan - Phase 2", Report informs.

"In the last 5 years, the fourth social reform package has already been implemented in Azerbaijan, and since the beginning of 2023, there have been further increases in wages and social payments," he said.

According to him, in the last 5 years, increases in social payments have been achieved, including a 2.5 times increase in the minimum pension and an 80 percent increase in the average monthly pension.

The minister noted the steps taken toward applying humanistic approaches in the pension system and expanding the scope of social security.

He said that from the beginning of 2019, automatic proactive assignment of pensions, allowances, and stipends had been started, and in the past period, 500,000 social security types, including 71,000 pensions, have been proactively assigned.
