Vessel traffic in Dardanelles Strait suspended

The vessel traffic in both directions in Türkiye's Dardanelles Strait has been suspended due to fires, according to the Maritime Affairs Department of the Turkish Ministry of Transport, Report informs via local media outlets.
"Due to fires in Canakkale province, Türkiye, vessel traffic in the Dardanelles has been temporarily suspended in both directions," the statement said.
According to the IHA agency, one of the fires broke out near the Saricaeli settlement. Due to strong winds, the flames quickly spread to a wide area, including agricultural lands, and approached the settlement.
The Dardanelles Strait connects the Aegean Sea with the Sea of Marmara and, through the Bosphorus, with the Black Sea.
