Uzbekistan prepares NPP construction project

Uzbekistan has prepared a unique project for the construction of its first-ever nuclear power plant (NPP), which envisions placing both high- and low-capacity reactors on a single site, Deputy Prime Minister Jamshid Khodjaev said at World Atomic Week in Moscow, Report informs.
According to the press service of the Uzatom agency, Khodjaev stated that the site in Jizzakh region will host two reactors with a capacity of 1,000 MW each, and two smaller reactors with a capacity of 55 MW each.
The plant, which will span approximately 525 hectares, is expected to generate 15.2 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity annually by 2035-equivalent to 15% of the country's current total energy consumption.
