Ukrainian analyst: Moscow seeking to put forward its proposals to Kyiv through US

According to Western media, US Special Envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff, has proposed to US President Donald Trump to recognize four occupied Ukrainian regions as Russian territory, Ukrainian military-political analyst Taras Berezovets told Report.

Berezovets noted that these regions are Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson, and Zaporizhzhia. However, Russia does not fully control any of these territories.

The analyst underlined that this is the desire of some individuals in the US, but Kyiv does not agree.

"During the meeting of US-Russian representatives, a proposal was allegedly made that Ukraine should withdraw its troops from these regions and recognize them as Russian territory. However, this possibility is not confirmed by official US sources. Witkoff had previously expressed such views in an interview with journalist Tucker Carlson,” he highlighted.

Berezovets added, “As a result, according to US media, many influential Republicans, senators, expressed their anger to national security advisor Mike Waltz and Secretary of State Marco Rubio. Such a plan cannot be implemented. Because Ukraine will not accept the proposal to withdraw its troops from its territory and especially to recognize its temporarily occupied territories as Russian territory under any circumstances."

The analyst further stated that another proposal put forward by the US President's Special Envoy to Ukraine, Keith Kellogg, involves creating different zones of influence:

"In an interview with the Times newspaper, he said that in this case, a French-British peacekeeping contingent would be deployed on the right bank of Ukraine, while units of the Ukrainian defense forces would be on the left bank. The implementation of this plan is associated with many difficulties, such as creating an 18-mile, approximately 30-kilometer buffer zone... One thing is completely clear that Moscow is trying to put forward its proposals through Witkoff, and this could already create conflict within the US President's team."
