The coronavirus pandemic was confirmed to have reached the Republic of Moldova on March 7, 2020. Data from the Moldovan Government includes confirmed cases in the Transnistria autonomous territorial unit (46 as far), which is occupied by the internationally unrecognized Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic (also known as Transnistria).

Moldova's health Minister Viorica Dumbrăveanu said that two more people died in the country due to the COVID-19 coronavirus, Report says, citing RIA Novosti.

"Unfortunately, we have two men who died, both at the age of 68. We express our condolences to the families of the dead" — said the politician.

According to her, 40 people in Moldova have recovered from coronavirus.

Moldova has introduced a state of emergency since March 17.

On December 31, 2019, Chinese authorities announced an outbreak of pneumonia in the city of Wuhan. The causative agent of the disease is a new type of coronavirus, which has the official name COVID-2019.

The World Health Organization (WHO ) declared a pandemic of a new type of coronavirus in the world.
