Türkiye's KAAN aircraft to become effective weapon with domestic software

The fifth-generation Turkish military aircraft KAAN will take up combat duty following a series of tests. Thanks to domestic software and hardware, the combat vehicle will turn into an effective weapon on the battlefield, KAAN pilot Gokhan Bayramoglu, who is participating in the testing of the aircraft, told Anadolu agency, Report informs.

According to him, pilots with experience in combat aircraft are involved in a one-year aircraft testing course, where they work with engineers and technicians, studying the process of assembling a combat vehicle and flight characteristics.

The task of the test pilot is to, using the available experience, explain to the engineers in which missions the combat aircraft will be used: “For KAAN to take off, we need to test the engines. It is necessary to ensure the integration of engines and systems with each other. We managed to do all this. Now we are checking the aircraft on the move, and at the last stage we will test the control systems, after which KAAN will take off," the pilot said.

According to him, though the tests are being carried out with the help of a simulator, the combat vehicle will take to the air when the time comes: "This is not just an aircraft, but a weapon. Thanks to domestic software, KAAN will turn into an effective weapon."

The day before, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced that the fifth-generation Turkish military aircraft was named KAAN.
