The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkiye commented on the report of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights on the situation of human rights in the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region of China, Ambassador Tanju Bilgic said, Report informs.
"The recently published report of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights on the situation in the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region confirms the concern expressed in our country and international public opinion about the Uyghur Turks and other Muslim minorities living in the region.
"In this regard, it is important to consider the findings and assessments contained in the report.
"Our expectations and sensitivity regarding the welfare and peaceful life of the Uyghur Turks, the protection of their fundamental rights and freedoms are emphasized both in our bilateral contacts with Chinese officials and on international platforms, including the UN.
"At the same time, the visit of the delegation from our country, as well as our ambassador in Beijing to the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region at the invitation of the People's Republic of China, has been on the agenda for some time. These visits will be possible if our expectations for meaningful, comprehensive and unhindered visits are met," he said.
