Turkey suspends flights with six countries due to dangerous virus

The Turkish authorities have decided to suspend flights with several states due to the spread of new coronavirus strains, the Turkish Interior said in a statement, Report informs.

“Air traffic with Bangladesh, Brazil, Nepal, India, Sri Lanka, and South Africa will be suspended from July 1 until further notice. Direct flights from these countries to Turkey will be prohibited,” the message says. “Passengers that come from Bangladesh, Brazil, Nepal, India, Sri Lanka, and South Africa must provide a negative PCR test within the last 14 days before arrival, made a maximum of 72 hours before entering the republic. After that, they will be quarantined for 14 days.”

The coronavirus variant officially named Delta was first discovered in India last October, often referred to as the Indian strain.

Earlier, the All India Institute of Medical Sciences said that this variant of the virus can infect people even after they were vaccinated with the Covaxin and Covishield vaccines used in India. The Delta Plus variant of this strain is considered to be even more contagious.
