Tokayev, Pashinyan discuss peace declaration between Azerbaijan, Armenia

The President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, had a telephone conversation with the Prime Minister of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan, Report informs via Akorda.

The Kazakh leader congratulated Pashinyan on the establishment of peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan as a result of agreements reached in Washington and expressed his support for the process.

According to Tokayev, the declaration opens the way for large-scale international cooperation in the South Caucasus, as well as more active economic and mutual investment activities between Kazakhstan and Armenia. He confirmed that Astana is ready to continue facilitating political dialogue between Yerevan and Baku by providing a negotiation platform.

Pashinyan informed the Kazakh side about some aspects of the peace process, particularly noting the important mediating role of US President Donald Trump.

He highly appreciated Astana's efforts to reconcile Armenia and Azerbaijan and confirmed his intention to visit Kazakhstan this year to sign new cooperation agreements.

Tokayev stated that preparations have already begun in Astana for Pashinyan's official visit planned for the end of the year.
