Several people interrogated on terror attack case in Armenian parliament

In the two years since the resumption of the investigation into the terror attack in the Armenian parliament that occurred on October 27, 1999, several dozen people have been interrogated, according to the Prosecutor General’s Office of Armenia, Report informs referring to Armenian media.
The personal files of many officials were seized, as well as criminal proceedings of interest in the case (they are at the stage of study).
The prosecutor’s office said in a statement that the investigation also seized many video and audio recordings, and examinations are being carried out.
Based on the facts obtained during the preliminary investigation, a number of versions have been put forward. The Prosecutor General’s Office notes that appropriate actions are being taken to clarify the circumstances of the terror attack, as well as to ensure a comprehensive, complete and objective investigation of the case.
On October 27, 1999, a group of armed people broke into the Armenian parliament. In the meeting room, terrorists killed Prime Minister Vazgen Sargsyan, Speaker of Parliament Karen Demirchyan, as well as vice-speakers Yuri Bakhshyan and Ruben Miroyan, Minister of Operational Affairs Leonard Petrosyan, deputies Henrikh Abrahamyan, Armenak Armenakyan and Mikael Kotanyan.
The trial of the terrorists began in February 2001 and lasted until December 2003. Six terrorists were sentenced to life imprisonment, including the leader of the group Nairi Hunanyan, his brother Karen Hunanyan, their uncle Vram Galstyan, as well as Derenik Bejanyan, Edik Grigoryan and Ashot Knyazyan. Hamlet Stepanyan was sentenced to 14 years.
