There is a high probability that a conflict between nuclear powers will grow into a nuclear war, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov told on a press conference on European security issues on Thursday, Report informs.
According to him, the presidents of Russia and the United States made a statement in June 2021 about not launching nuclear weapons:
"Because there will be no winner of the nuclear war, I said that even a war between nuclear states is unacceptable. Because if someone decides to start a war with conventional means, there is a possibility that this conflict will turn into a nuclear war."
Lavrov said that Moscow is worried about the West's rhetoric regarding Russia's use of weapons of mass destruction:
"The West itself, including the US, UK, and France, is doing everything to increase its direct involvement in the war waged by the Ukrainians against Russia. This is a dangerous trend."
