Russia slams US approach to Georgia

Director of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service, ex-speaker of the State Duma Sergei Naryshkin is confident that discontent with the situation in Georgia is growing in Washington, in particular, with the actions of the ruling Georgian Dream party.

According to Report's Georgian bureau, Naryshkin said that since the time of Mikheil Saakashvili, the United States has been accustomed to 'manually' managing political processes in Georgia - 'dictating how the government should function and what line to pursue concerning the opposition.'

"Recently, discontent with the actions of the ruling Georgian Dream party, which does not fulfill American demands, has been growing in Washington. The White House is annoyed that the 'dreamers' do not fully comply with the directive to follow the course of Euro-Atlantic integration unconditionally.

"Washington is making it clear to the Georgian authorities that the further line of the White House over Tbilisi will be determined by the readiness of the Georgian leadership to precisely follow American instructions," the statement says.
