Putin receives senior adviser to Iran's supreme leader

Russian President Vladimir Putin received Ali Larijani, senior advisor to Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Kremlin press secretary Dmitry Peskov said, Report informs via TASS.

According to Peskov, "the Iranian representative, on the instructions of his leadership, conveyed his assessment of the aggravated situation in the Middle East and around the Iranian nuclear program."

Israel launched a military operation against Iran on the night of June 13. Less than a day later, the Islamic Republic carried out a retaliatory attack. The United States entered the conflict 9 days after its escalation: on the night of June 22, the American Armed Forces attacked three Iranian nuclear facilities. On the evening of June 23, Tehran launched a missile strike on the largest American air base in the Middle East, Al-Udeid Air Base in Qatar. Later, US President Donald Trump announced that Israel and Iran had agreed to a complete ceasefire. The ceasefire came into effect on June 24, but the overall instability is still prevailing in the Middle East.
