Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan flew from Ankara to Samarkand to attend the 22nd summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).
Report informs, citing Anadolu, that the plane with the Turkish leader on board took off from the capital's Esenboga airport at 10.20 local time.
The Turkish leader will attend the summit as a "special guest of honor."
The SCO summit in Samarkand will be the first in the organization's history where Turkiye will be represented at the presidential level.
President Erdogan is scheduled to speak at the summit on September 16.
In addition, a number of bilateral meetings are planned.
