PM: Kazakhstan doesn’t plan to apply retaliatory tariffs on US goods

Kazakhstan will not increase tariffs on US goods in retaliation, Prime Minister of Kazakhstan, Oljas Bektenov, said at a press conference held in Astana, Report informs.

He noted that 95% of Kazakhstan's exports to the US are not covered by the tariffs proposed by US President Donald Trump. The remaining 5% "does not carry a critical load."

"Nevertheless, we are negotiating with the US," Bektenov underlined.

According to the information, the US has announced its intention to apply a 25% duty on the import of Kazakhstani goods starting from August 1, 2025.

In a response letter to Donald Trump, Kazakhstan's President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev confirmed that Kazakhstan is ready to continue constructive dialogue.
