Peskov: 'We believe US already decided on possibility of ATACMS strikes on Russia'

The Kremlin assumes that the US has already decided to lift restrictions on the use of ATACMS missiles to strike Russian territory from Ukraine, Russian presidential spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said, Report informs referring to Interfax.

He was commenting on Western media reports that US Secretary of State Antony Blinken may allow Ukraine to use ATACMS to strike Russia during his visit to Kyiv.

"Most likely, all these decisions have already been made. This can be assumed with a high degree of probability. At the moment, the media is conducting an information campaign to formalize the decision that has already been made," Peskov said.

"Attempts to distance themselves from the involvement of the US and European states in this conflict are continuing. We do not think that this is working. The involvement of the United States and European states in the conflict around Ukraine is direct, immediate. Each new step increases the degree of this involvement, although there is nowhere to increase it," he added.

Answering the question about what Russia's response will be to Washington's possible permission for Ukraine to strike Russian territory with long-range weapons, he noted that "it will be appropriate."
