Pashinyan: Yerevan is not against Baku’s joining EAEU

Armenia will not be against Azerbaijan's accession to the EAEU if this step contributes to the peaceful development of the region, as Report informs, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said this, answering a TASS question, live on his Facebook page.

"If we see that this step will contribute to our agenda, that is, it will open an era of peaceful development of the region, - of course (Armenia will not be against Azerbaijan's accession to the EAEU - ed.). If we move forward in negotiations on a number of issues, it would be illogical to create a new source of conflict," Pashinyan said.

On December 10, the honorary chairman of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council (SEEC), the first president of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev, said that Azerbaijan could receive observer status in the Eurasian Economic Union.

For her turn, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova noted that interaction between Azerbaijan and the EAEU would contribute to the intensification of mutual trade and the implementation of large-scale infrastructure projects.
