Over 32,000 people infected with coronavirus in Iran

The number of people infected with the novel coronavirus in Iran per day has reached 2,926, and the total number of cases has exceeded 32,000, head of the Iranian Health Ministry’s public relations department Kiyanoush Jahanpour said, Report informs referring to TASS news agency.

“Iran has recorded 2,926 new cases of coronavirus infection in the country,” he noted. “The total number of cases is 32,332.”

He also added that over the past 24 hours, 144 people died from the coronavirus, and the death toll has reached 2,378 people.

The outbreak in China’s Wuhan city - which is an international transport hub - began at a fish market in late December 2019. The number of people killed by the disease has surpassed 24,000. Over 532,000 people have been confirmed as infected. Meanwhile, over 124,000 people have reportedly recovered.

The World Health Organization (WHO) declared COVID-19 a pandemic on March 11.
