The European Union (EU) does not demand that Kazakhstan join sanctions against Russia and fully respects the authorities' independent position on resolving these issues, the EU Sanctions Envoy David O'Sullivan said at a press conference in Astana, Report informs.
We are not requesting or suggesting that Kazakhstan ban the export of any goods, as this is not within our authority," O'Sullivan clarified.
He explained that the concern is about European goods that are not produced in Kazakhstan but are imported through Kazakhstan and then sold to Russia
According to O'Sullivan, this could be seen as illegal trade of sanctioned goods, with the sole purpose of evading sanctions.
