The number of HIV incidence cases regestered in Georgia is 7949.
Local Bureau of Report News Agency informs that the due report was provided by Georgia's Infection Pathology, AIDS and Clinical Immunology Scientific-Practical Center.
As of October 7 this year, 5961 of those infected were men, while 1988 were women. The vast majority of patients are those aged 29-40: AIDS developed in 4,884 patients, while 1,611 people died.
Most of the HIV cases were caused by hetero-sex (47.8%) and drug use (38.5%).
Most cases of AIDS infection were registered in the capital, Tbilisi. There are 2,842 HIV carriers in the city.
