Hossein Fereydun, the brother of the president of Iran, was transferred to prison, where he will serve a five-year term, his lawyer said.

Report informs citing reported by the state television and radio company IRIB that in early October, Judiciary spokesman Gholam Hossein Esmayeeli said Hossein Fereydoun was sentenced to five years in prison for corruption.

In addition to the prison term, he must pay a large fine. ISNA previously reported that Fereydun was arrested in 2017, several investigations were conducted in relation to him, as well as other persons. However, he was acquitted on a number of charges, the agency noted, he was threatened with imprisonment on another part of the charges. However, the decision remained inconclusive until the beginning of October.
