Iran considers negotiations with the United States regarding its nuclear program settlement to be meaningless following recent Israeli attacks on Iranian territory, Islamic Republic's Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei, Report informs via Tasnim.
"The opposing side (the US - ed.) has acted in such a way that dialogue has become meaningless. One cannot declare readiness for negotiations while simultaneously coordinating actions that allow the Zionist regime to strike Iranian territory," the agency quoted the diplomat as saying.
The fifth round of US-Iranian negotiations on Tehran's nuclear program took place on May 23 in Rome. Following the discussions, Oman's Foreign Minister Badr al-Busaidi, who serves as mediator in the negotiation process, stated that the US and Iran had achieved "certain, but not final progress."
Later, White House leader Donald Trump wrote on his Truth Social page that Washington would not allow Tehran to enrich uranium under any potential agreement regarding its nuclear program.
However, Axios reported that the United States' proposals to Iran on ways to resolve disagreements over its nuclear development actually provided for Tehran's continued uranium enrichment, contrary to public statements made by American officials on this matter.
The sixth round of negotiations was scheduled to take place in Muscat on Sunday, but following the Israeli strikes, its occurrence has been called into question.
